When it comes to ingredients our skin loves, ceramides are at the top of the list. They're a natural part of our skin barrier and play a key role in protecting, hydrating, and repairing it. That's why at Fraela, we use them where they matter most—in our lip glosses and our nourishing Smart Glow Oil Serum .

What are ceramides?

Ceramides are lipid (fat) molecules that are naturally found in the top layer of the skin. Think of them as the “mortar” between the “bricks” – the skin cells. They keep the skin compact, hydrated and protected from external influences.

With age, stress, or damage (e.g., cold, UV radiation, or excessive cleansing), the amount of ceramides in the skin decreases. The result is dryness, irritation, or a weakened protective barrier.

Why do we use them in lip glosses?

Lips are extremely sensitive – they don’t have oil glands or a protective film to keep them from drying out. That’s why we added ceramides to our lip glosses to:

• They intensely hydrated and helped maintain moisture in the lips,

• Restored the damaged skin barrier of the lips (e.g. when cracked or dry),

• They softened the texture of the lips and made them appear smoother and fuller,

• They have increased wearing comfort - the gloss is non-sticky and nourishing at the same time.

Smart Glow Oil and the power of rice ceramides

In our Smart Glow Oil serum, we use rice bran extract ( Oryza Sativa Bran Extract ), which is a natural source of phytoceramides. These act very similarly to ceramides in the skin - they promote hydration, reduce transepidermal water loss (TEWL) and improve overall skin resistance.
